Brewster resident Elmer O. Marcos Velasquez was tasked with picking up someone who had been released from the barracks on Sunday, March 3, police said.

On his way to pick up the other subject, who was in custody on an unrelated incident, police investigators said that Velasquez drove on Route 22 in Southeast before arriving in Brewster. Upon arrival at the police barracks, an investigation determined that Velasquez was impaired by alcohol and he was arrested.

Velasquez, 28, was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor. He has since been released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
